GREETINGS BY THE PRESIDENT
The European Council of Jewish Communities (ECJC) strengthens Jewish life in Europe.
We are the pan-European umbrella body for Jewish communities and organisations across the continent, representing Jewish community life across West, Central and Eastern Europe covering around 40 countries.
Established in 1968 as a not-for-profit organisation, we have NGO status at the Council of Europe and the European Union, with a network of regional representative offices in London, Berlin and Kiev.
In addition to representing Jewish Community interests, we develop a range of bespoke programmes together with our Members and other expert partners, focussed on the following five areas:
- Education - working with teachers, schools, students and youth movements
- Social Welfare - sharing knowledge and experience across welfare professionals
- Culture & Heritage - promoting Jewish arts and culture
- Civil Society - fostering co-existence and inter-community relations
- Capacity Development - supporting community leaders through training, networking and the sharing of best practice
The shifts in global politics and economics, together with the ever-present dangers of anti-Semitism, means this work has never been more important or relevant. European Jewry must act together and learn from eachother. Over the following pages we highlight key examples of our work, which supports this process.
The ECJC family is already having a tremendous impact on European Jewry, but we can do more. Please do get in touch to learn more about us or to get involved.
Jonathan Joseph
President
