About

Founded in 1968, at a time when Europe was deeply divided, ECJC was created to build meaningful connections between Jewish communities in Eastern and Western Europe. It served as a bridge - enabling communities to exchange experience, develop professional standards and support one another in rebuilding and sustaining vibrant Jewish life.

Founded in 1968, at a time when Europe was deeply divided, ECJC was created to build meaningful connections between Jewish communities in Eastern and Western Europe.
Throughout its history, ECJC has worked in close partnership with the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), supporting communities through social change, demographic shifts and evolving communal needs.

Re-established in 2011, ECJC reaffirmed its role as a modern,
pan-European platform for cooperation, innovation and
shared responsibility.
Today, ECJC brings together Jewish communities, federations, NGOs and networks across Europe to strengthen collaboration, capacity building and shared learning in social welfare & wellbeing, cultural heritage, education & community development.
