New Member – Let’s Welcome The Jewish Community of Malmö, Sweden

The Jewish Community of Malmö was founded in 1871. It is a small, vibrant, and democratic community of about 500 members. The community center, located at Kamrergatan 11 in Malmö, plays a central role for its members. It houses the administration and information center, as well as the rabbi, preschool, kitchen, Jewish associations, educational facilities, and a combined prayer room and library. It also serves as a venue for meetings and social events. Malmö Synagogue, inaugurated in 1903, is located at Betaniaplan 2, close to the community center. The synagogue services are orthodox. Once or twice a month an egalitarian (conservative) shabbat service is also held at the community centre. The Jewish learning Center at Malmö Synagogue, operated by the Jewish Community in Malmö in cooperation with the City of Malmö, offers guided tours in the synagogue primarily for school classes and other educational groups, but also for turists and other visiting groups.
