Member Spotlight: Maccabi Ukraine Shabbaton at Lake Balaton

From September 3–6, Maccabi Ukraine brought participants together for a vibrant Shabbaton on the shores of Lake Balaton, combining sports, creativity, Jewish learning, music, and community. Participants competed in volleyball, basketball, table tennis, and athletics, while also taking part in creative activities, intellectual games, challah baking, and discussions including “The Other Side of the Medal: Antisemitism in Sport.” The Shabbaton also featured Jewish history and learning, music, Israeli dancing, and meaningful Shabbat and Havdalah experiences. It was a special opportunity to strengthen friendships, celebrate community, and create new memories together.
