New Member – Jewish Community of Novi Sad, Serbia

We’re delighted to welcome the Jewish Community of Novi Sad as our new member. Jewish life in Novi Sad in Serbia dates back to the early 18th century, with the establishment of the Hevra Kadisha in 1729 and the official recognition of the Jewish Community in 1749. Over the centuries, the community built synagogues, schools, cultural institutions, and vibrant social and sports clubs. Tragically, during World War II, more than 3,000 of the city’s 4,350 Jews perished. Today, the community numbers around 650 members and remains active in preserving Jewish identity through educational, cultural, religious, and social programs. Its various sections, clubs, and cultural groups continue to enrich Jewish life in Novi Sad.
