Welcome to Our New Member: Jewish Community of Osijek (Croatia)

September 3 2026

We are pleased to welcome the Jewish Community of Osijek, Croatia as a new member of the European Council of Jewish Communities. Founded in 1845, the Jewish Community of Osijek is one of Croatia’s oldest and most historically significant Jewish communities. Today, it continues to preserve and celebrate Jewish heritage through a wide range of cultural, educational, and commemorative initiatives. For the past 25 years, the community has organized the European Day of Jewish Culture in Osijek and, more recently, the Month of Jewish Culture, bringing Jewish history and traditions to a wider audience. It also publishes the community magazine Menora, runs a Sunday School for young people, and supports the Israeli folk dance group Haverim Shel Israel. We are delighted to welcome the Jewish Community of Osijek to the ECJC family and look forward to working together to strengthen and celebrate Jewish life across Europe.
